My First Legal Croptober

Fuck...I'd say it's been about two #years since I started this #venture (2016 - 2018), but let's be real...I've been wanting to do this shit since I was #eighteen...so that's a solid PHD - or twelve years for the rest of y'all.

It's taken everything I have to get here. I left my #family, #friends, my best friend died...was it all #worth it? It a question I keep asking myself, but I finally realized it's a misleading one. There is no "worth" when you choose to follow your #dreams. Shit happens - that's life. Not living your life because #shit happens isn't a #life worth living.

On this #journey I've grown more than I thought I ever would. I've learned about my own #emotions, my relentless #drive to better myself and those around me and even how capable my #body is at adapting to the various outdoor conditions of #Oregon.

I've been #blessed with an introduction on how to live in the #mountains. I've learned that #wasps are #beneficial, and that #spiders can be welcomed #creatures to an #ecosystem. I've grown #roots as I learned what it takes to grow plants in a #biodynamic and #regenerative nature. I've learned to become part of the #landscape, as any good #gardener should. Even the #hummingbirds, #deer and wild #turkeys respect me as an #animal, not a #human.

The first #rainfall poured down yesterday, the second to last day of #September. #Croptober is coming.

Many #panicchop their #plants as their fear for #mold growing post-rain inundates them. The sound of leaf blowers spiritually fills the air as #growers fire up their #gas and #electric powered #weapons preparing to #battle the #elements once again. Yes, croptober has arrived. For me, I was born in #October...this time of year is in my #blood so much so that not even mountains, #lakes, #streams and cop-ridden #towns stopped me from enjoying it.

And it shouldn't stop you either. It's a magical time. And we're #magical #people.
