There's a lot of bullshit out there, so hopefully we can help you sift through some of it. May you always know what you're talking about, and never talk about what you don't know.
Here's the Top 10 Cannabis Flower Definitions for the Connoisseur
#1 - Cannabis
Cannabis is the Genus or collection of plants we collectively refer to as weed, hemp, THCA flower, CBG flower, etc. Cannabis is the overall encompassing term that represents all types of flowers. Think of it like the “Mother Definition” – of which, all other words describe various types of Cannabis.
#2 - Marijuana
Marijuana is a LEGAL definition describing Cannabis with more than 0.3% Delta-9-THC. The Federal Government using the Code of Federal Regulations has supplied an official definition HERE. Technically, Marijuana can also be considered Hot Hemp.
"It all revolves around .3% Delta-9...the entire industry." - Jared Sherman (Cultivator and Business Owner)
#3 - Hemp
Hemp is a LEGAL definition describing Cannabis with less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC. Hot Hemp is just Marijuana (according to the Feds) cultivated under a (USDA) Hemp Program that went over the limit of 0.3% D9. Hemp, as a definition, has nothing to do with CBD, nor is CBD a requirement for Cannabis Flower to be defined as Hemp. CBD Flower is typically grown under a Hemp License, however.
The Code of Federal Regulations' definition of Hemp can be found HERE.

#4 - THCA Flower
Hemp with less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC, but upwards of 30% THCA, which when theoretically heated or combusted, will decarboxylate into the psychoactive Delta-9-THC. THCA Flower is also known as Type 1 Hemp, or Legal Weed. THCA Flower can be manufactured by infusing or spraying THCA Distillate onto Hemp, or cultivated like normal Cannabis. THCA is non-psychoactive as-is, much like regular weed. It only "works" when heated, much like regular weed. The only reason it isn't considered regular weed is because it's "technically/legally" not Marijuana. If you're still confused, reread Definitions #2 and #3.
#5 - Type 1
Cannabis with a high THCA chemical makeup, or chemotype. Type 1 Cannabis can also be Marijuana, or Hemp, as Legally defined by having more or less than 0.3% Delta-9-THC.
#6 - Type 2
Cannabis containing significant amounts of two or more cannabinoids, usually THCA:CBDA. Ratios are close to 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, etc.
#7 - Type 3
Cannabis with a high CBDA chemical makeup, or chemotype. Type 3 Cannabis is usually defined and cultivated as Hemp, although it can go “HOT”, or above the Legal Limit for Delta-9-THC, creating low-quality Marijuana/Weed (in terms of psychoactive use associated with marijuana/weed). Hot Hemp, or illegal Type 3 cannabis, is pretty useless for everyone involved, as it can’t legally be sold, and when cultivated under a USDA Hemp Program, has to be destroyed or homogenized into compliance, further reducing extraction efficiencies for processors.
#8 - Indica (Consumer Perspective)
Cannabis flower having a typically relaxing, narcotic, “In-Da-Couch” like effect, powered by Myrcene, Linalool and B-Caryophyllene dominant terpene profiles. You might find these compounds in Earthy, Woody, Berry, or Herby smelling varieties.
#9 - Sativa (Consumer Perspective)
Cannabis flower having a typically uplifting, fun, energetic like effect, powered by Terpinolene, Alpha-Pinene, and D-Limonene dominant terpene profiles. You might find these compounds in Citrusy, Piney or Woody smelling varieties.
#10 - Hybrid (Consumer Perspective)
Cannabis flower typically having a blend of effects. A common effect may be the onset of Sativa-like happiness and energy, finishing with an Indica-like relaxation that helps the user ease into the evening. Most cannabis flower as a blend of terpenes, yielding Hybrid-like effects. Many tend to note Sativa or Indica leaning profiles when describing terpenes.
*Honorable Mention - Type 4
Cannabis flower high in CBG; typically the safest to cultivate under a USDA Hemp Program due to its likelihood of staying compliant for Delta-9-THC.
